Conningbrook Lake

30 Acre(s)

Conningbrook was dug out in the early eighties, the original strain of fish came from the waters we have in Faversham (wood pool and mill pool).

Although this is a very hard water with approximately 30 known Carp present, the sheer size of these fish is exceptional.

The anglers who fish this water on a regular basis know that the next run could be a personal best.

The lake produced the British Record Mirror of 67lb 14oz known as Two Tone which sadly died a few years ago.

The Brook still holds some huge fish, all of the originals are well into 20lbs, with most hitting the 30lbs mark, with one common believed to an upper 40, possibly now close to 50lbs.

The 30 acre venue, attracts the biggest names in carp fishing, one of which, was Lee Jackson.

Lee done his time on Conningbrook and described it as “the best six years fishing”, he has ever had.

The water is extremely rich, with loads of natural life, its hard to get those water pigs on your bait.

Lee found Spring was a good time of year to pile in the boilies, a top tip from one of the best anglers in the country, yellow hock baits are the one! When the weather starts to warm up, and the naturals are growing, partcial was Lees choice of bait.

As the lake is very shallow, 12 feet at its deepest, the fish will always follow a good wind.

An old slogan to go by is “when the wind blows West, the fish bite best, when the wind blows East, the fish bite the least”.

Spend time observing the margins, when there is a warm South East/West winds, you will find them close in.

This venue is very hard, the top rod will bag between seven and twelve fish a season, not a venue for the angler who is just starting out.

However, if you have a few years experience behind you, you have good knowledge of water craft, you will nail some of the units which live in there.

Please ensure all the gates are closed at the lake, there is a toilet located near the car for anglers use.

You are welcome to drop your gear off at your swim of choice, providing you then put your car in the car park.

The venue is shared with the Ashford Borough Council, there for water sports/ boating does take place on the lake.

There is currently no waiting list for the single ticket, which is a set fee of £250.

Gold Ticket members can also fish this venue.

We do not have a close season on this venue; however, please expect swim / lake closures while the fish are spawning.

Feel free to contact us before you travel to the lakes to ensure they are open as usual.
