A carp-only water with fish running to double figures but averaging betwen 5lbs and 6lbs, Blackwell Wood Pool is set well away from the four other pools and is best reached by parking in the gateway two fields towards Wellesbourne from the road which leads to the farm.

Walking up the field in front of you and you will see the pool.

Alternatively, take the gated track which runs through the wood at the wide end of Barn Pool and, at the end of the wood, walk along the far edge of the field and down to the pool.

In spring and summer, this quarter-acre pool is surrounded by yellow iris and reeds whilst on hot days the tall oak provides much welcomed shade from the sun.

Being away from the other Oakham Farm pools, Blackwell Wood is much quieter and anglers can often have the water to themselves, particularly when visiting the fishery mid week.

Holding Mirror and Common carp well into double figures, the pool is up to 10ft deep at the dam end so floating baits, float fishing and legering all have their part to play.

As for baits, anything that goes for carp goes for Blackwell Wood Pool.
